DESCRIPTION:Join Keep Knoxville Beautiful at the South Knoxville Community Cleanup (SKCC) 2026. On Saturday\, April 18th from 9am to 12pm\, dozens of volunteers will be picking up litter throughout South Knoxville. \nAt the SKCC 2025\, 310 volunteers picked up over 7\,800 lbs of litter in just 3 hours! This event is a great way to participate in a larger effort to keep Knoxville clean\, green\, and beautiful! \nMeet at Chapman Square at 4409 Chapman Hwy. We will be removing litter from South Knoxville roads\, creeks\, and parks. Participants of any age are welcome! We look forward to seeing those who live\, work\, or play in South Knoxville – as well as anyone who wants to lend a helping hand. There are four options for cleanup: \n\nSign up as a group with 5+ people to be assigned or to request an area for South Knox cleanup\n\nLitter Cleanup at Chapman Square \n\n\nCreek Cleanup at Goose Creek at Mary Vestal Park \n\n\nInvasive Removal with Ijams at Community Unity Park in Montgomery Village \n\n\nBe sure to sign up before Sunday\, April 12th at 11:59 PM.

SUMMARY:8th Annual Veterans Heritage Ridge Run
DESCRIPTION:The 8th Annual Veterans’ Ridge Run is presented by Veteran Heritage Site Foundation & Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1078. It’s an event for JROTC to compete for the Ridge Cup and for runners to be aware of the city’s Veterans Park. Many runners come to support the Sharp’s Ridge Veterans Memorial Park and Veterans Heritage Site Foundation. The Run will be on the Trails on Sharp’s Ridge. \nRucksack runners will carry a rucksack with 10 pounds of food to bring awareness to the 22 veterans who commit suicide daily due to carrying the burdens of PTSD. Also the 10K Ruck is to bring awareness to homelessness in veterans and Mayor Glenn Jacobs new Hero Hill\, a new tiny home for Knox County homeless veterans. The food will be donated to Second Harvest. \nJROTC will compete for the Ridge Cup for the High School Jr ROTC and the JROTC teams which will be sponsored so there is no cost to the students. SUMMARY:National Trails Weekend - Big South Fork!
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate National Trail Day with a weekend of fun at Big South Fork!!! We’ll camp at the group campsite\, work with the Big South Fork Bike Club\, and Ride BIKES! \nCAMP (June 5-8)\nGroup site E1 at Bandy Creek Campground is reserved!!! First come\, first serve camping. There are no hookups\, but plenty of sites to choose from\, and all are a leisurely stroll to the campfire\, pavilion\, and bathhouse. We reserved the group site from Friday afternoon (2 pm) to Monday (noon). \nWORK (Saturday\, June 6th)\nWe’ll meet at the Bandy Creek Visitors Center at 9am EST\, our good friends with the Big South Fork Bike Club will have our work projects ready\, and AMBC will have all the tools you’ll need for the day. Bring a friend\, sturdy shoes\, safety glasses\, and water! At noon we’ll meet back at Bandy Creek for Lunch and Beers. \nEAT\nSaturday lunch is provided by Joe and his crew with the Big South Fork Bike Club. Saturday Evening is a potluck\, with Harpers Bike Shop providing the protein. Bring a side for 10\, along with needed utensils. We’ll host dinner at the group site pavilion @ 7 pm!!! All other meals are on your own\, so plan accordingly. \nRIDE\n\nRides are TBD. \nTHE EPIC ride is also a Sunday option\, this ride is not to be confused with the IMBA Epic route. The ride is one of legend\, a ride that typically takes everything you can muster plus a bit more. Rarely repeated\, uphills both ways and always a backcountry adventure\, it’ll be EPIC. Those who are prepared for 30 miles of self-supported riding in the early summer heat are gonna love it. Each rider needs to pack a lunch\, snacks\, and a $20 bill. We’ll be stopping for refreshments at our favorite backcountry lodge – Charit Creek Lodge.
