SUMMARY:Joy Ride - William Hastie
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 26th 9:00am – 12:00pm at William Hastie\nBeginner Plus & Intermediate \nAMBC Joy Ride wants to invite YOU to tackle Hastie with us. Join us for a FUN day on technical terrain\, conquering roots\, rocks and AWESOME trails in William Hastie Natural Area. \nGrab a friend or make some new ones at this free event for female\, female-identifying and non-binary riders 18 years and older. This ride is intended to help women feel more comfortable on beginner plus and intermediate-level terrain in the Urban Wilderness. No one gets left behind\, and everyone leaves with a big smile. \nWilliam Hastie Natural Area has some of the most unique trails in South Knoxville\, and we want to show them to you. We will have rides for Beginner Plus and Intermediate. There are no mandatory gaps or drops\, but this area does require comfortability with rocks\, roots\, bridges\, and techy descents. \nThis event is free\, but please register and complete your 2026 AMBC Waiver by Thursday\, April 23rd. This helps us ensure we have enough volunteers and supplies. \nBring your helmet\, shoes\, ride snacks\, water\, a spare tube if you have one\, and a way to carry it on your ride. Please arrive at 9:00 AM for sign-in! \n— \nJoy Ride Event Schedule \n9:00 – 9:15 Sign In & Mingle \n9:15 – 9:30 Announcements & Meet Your Ride Leaders \n9:30 – 12:00 Ride and have fun! \nThank your ride leaders\, sweeps\, and fellow riders for a fun morning! \n— \nRide Leaders & Ride Sweeps needed! \nWe are always looking for ride leaders and sweeps to help with the ride in Hastie in a fun and safe manner. If you have ridden in Hastie before or feel comfortable riding at an intermediate skill level\, please join us as a ride leader or sweep! \nRiding Levels \nBeginner Plus: I’m comfortable on green and most blue trails. I’m venturing out onto harder trails\, but still have to walk some of the more technical features. Distance: Under 10 miles \nIntermediate: I am a confident rider and can ride my bike on technical terrain. I’m fine with roots and rocks\, comfortable on blue trails and ready for new challenge. Distance: 10 – 15 miles \nVolunteer: I’m a confident rider. I know the trails well\, and I’d love to help out as a ride leader or sweep! There will be a separate form for you to list your volunteer preferences. You don’t have to be an advanced rider to volunteer; just be confident at the level you choose in the volunteer form. \nFor more information on AMBC Joy Ride and upcoming events visit https://ambcknox.org/joyride/ \n*Event is subject to change based on weather and group consensus. Stay tuned for more info & updates.

Bring a side for 10\, along with needed utensils. We’ll host dinner at the group site pavilion @ 7 pm!!! All other meals are on your own\, so plan accordingly. \nRIDE\n\nRides are TBD. \nTHE EPIC ride is also a Sunday option\, this ride is not to be confused with the IMBA Epic route. The ride is one of legend\, a ride that typically takes everything you can muster plus a bit more. Rarely repeated\, uphills both ways and always a backcountry adventure\, it’ll be EPIC. Those who are prepared for 30 miles of self-supported riding in the early summer heat are gonna love it. Each rider needs to pack a lunch\, snacks\, and a $20 bill. We’ll be stopping for refreshments at our favorite backcountry lodge – Charit Creek Lodge.
