DESCRIPTION:JOIN US THIS FRIDAY\nTO CELEBRATE THE EXPANSION OF WILLIAM HASTIE NATURAL AREA!\n\nAt 3pm on Friday\, December 10th club City leaders\, Appalachian Mountain Bike Club trail-building enthusiasts and Urban Wilderness advocates will gather at the William Hastie Natural Area to celebrate a 27-acre expansion of this section of the Urban Wilderness – as well as the start of construction on 2 miles of new trails in the park.\n*** NOTE: Parking at the site is extremely limited\, please Hike or Bike into the Trailhead at 1302 Margaret Road. Parking and Shuttle is available at the Anderson School Trailhead\, 4808 Prospect Road. Shuttle service will begin at 2:15.  \n“We’re excited about the diversity of experiences made possible by this most recent park addition\,” said AMBC Executive Director Matthew Kellogg. “The William Hastie new trail plan will increase beginner trail opportunities within the park\, add an additional intermediate loop from the trailhead\, and provide two-directional mountain bike trails to the rockier south side of the new property.” \nLast spring\, AMBC put the 27 acres under contract\, with the intent of adding it to the City’s William Hastie Natural Area park. More than 300 proud land donors contributed to make the purchase a reality\, with the City of Knoxville funding $100\,000\, roughly half the purchase investment. Vee Hollow in Townsend matched donations for the land purchase\, and Harper Auto Square has pledged a $20\,000 matching donation toward construction. DESCRIPTION:This event is free\, but register by March 31st. This helps us ensure we have enough volunteers and supplies.\nWe will not have demo bikes available the day of the event but Harper’s Bike Shop has a couple you can reserve in advance. Please call them to make arrangements. Other local bike shops might do the same.\nOur rides are pressure-free and worry-free. We make sure every rider is comfortable with the group’s pace and that no section of trail is beyond the ability level of the group. E-bike are welcome.

SUMMARY:National Trails Weekend with Work Party and Epic Rides
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate National Trail Day with a weekend of fun at Big South Fork!!! We’ll camp at the group campsite\, work with the Big South Fork Bike Club\, and Ride BIKES! \nThe Details: \nCAMP\nGroup site E1 at Bandy Creek Campground is reserved!!! First come\, first serve camping. There are no hookups\, but plenty of sites to choose from and all are an easy stroll to the campfire\, pavilion\, and bathhouse. We have the site reserved from Friday afternoon – Monday morning. \nWORK\nWe’ll meet at the Bandy Creek Visitors Center at 8:30\, Our good friends with the Big South Fork Bike Club will have our work projects ready and AMBC will have all the tools you’ll need for the day. You bing a friend\, sturdy shoes\, safety glasses\, and water! At noon we’ll meet back at Bandy Creek for Lunch and Beers. \nEAT\nSaturday lunch is provided by Joe and his crew with the Big South Fork Bike Club. Saturday Evening AMBC will host dinner at the group site pavilion! \nRIDE\nPost workday social rides are organized based on what various groups are interested in. Remember Big South Fork is home to an IMBA Epic ride route. Sunday social rides are encouraged and this year AMBC Joy Ride will lead a women’s only ride please register for the the ride HERE. THE EPIC ride is also a Sunday option. The ride is one of legend\, a ride that typically takes everything you can muster plus a bit more. Rarely repeated\, uphills both ways and always a backcountry adventure\, it’ll be EPIC. Those who are prepared for 30 miles of self supported riding in the summer heat are gonna love it.
