SUMMARY:Joy Ride Progression Series - Forks of the River
DESCRIPTION:Join AMBC Joy Ride for the South Loop Summer Session Series!! \nGrab a friend or make some new ones at this free event for female\, female-identifying and non-binary riders. This is a way-finding series to get you comfortable navigating the Urban Wilderness on your own. Some trail is technical\, but all sessions are under 7 miles and the pace is casual. Our rides are pressure-free and worry-free. We make sure every rider is comfortable with the group’s pace and that no section of trail is beyond the ability level of the group. \nThis week we’re conquering West Perimeter & Whaley. We will ride from the McClure Lane (Sunflower) Forks of the River parking lot onto West Perimeter trail\, then ride Whaley to the Will Skelton Greenway and back. The total distance is around 5 miles. \nThis event is free\, but please register by July 22nd. This helps us ensure we have enough volunteers and supplies. \nOur session series are smaller group rides intended for learning. Each South Loop Summer Session Ride will be limited to 8 riders and will take place the second to last Thursday from May – August (rain date last Thursday of each month). Please let the event host know if you are unable to attend after registering\, so another Joy Rider can take your place. We will have a waitlist available and will reach out if there is room due to a cancellation. If you have any questions or need to cancel\, please contact Claudia at 708-949-0741.  \nIn the event of rain or wet trails\, the rain date will be Thursday\, May 29th at 6:00pm. We will communicate via email the night before if we need to reschedule to the rain date. \nPlease bring your helmet\, shoes\, ride snacks\, water\, and a way to carry it on your ride! Bring a spare tube if you have one. PLEASE arrive by 6:00pm for sign-in. The ride leaves promptly at 6:15pm. \nJoy Ride Event Schedule \n6:00 Meet & Sign in \n6:00 – 6:15 Announcements \n6:15 – 8:30 Ride and have fun! \nThank your ride leaders\, sweeps\, and fellow riders for a fun morning! \n— \nRide Leaders & Ride Sweeps needed! \nWe are always looking for ride leaders and sweeps to help with the ride. If you have ridden the South Loop before or feel comfortable riding at an intermediate skill level\, please join us as a ride leader or sweep! \nRiding Levels \nBeginner Plus: I’m comfortable on green and most blue trails. I’m venturing out onto harder trails\, but still have to walk some of the more technical features. Distance: Under 10 miles \nVolunteer: I’m a confident rider. I know the trails well\, and I’d love to help out as a ride leader or sweep! There will be a separate form for you to list your volunteer preferences.
