Please note that dove season is currently on at Forks of the River! Please steer clear of the trails at the WMA during hunt dates.
Recreation will be limited to the paved greenway only: September 22-23, November 3-18, and December 22-23.

Here’s the AMBC trail work day schedule for Fall/Winter 2012/2013. Knoxville’s trails don’t happen without our local volunteers, and will only grow bigger and better with your help. All workdays start at 9 and end between noon-3pm, depending on number of volunteers and work to be completed.

A three-day urban adventure packed with events and activities for the avid adventurer, weekend warrior, novice outdoor enthusiast and anyone who loves to Get out and play!
The event benefits Legacy Parks Foundation, a Knoxville-based non-profit working to expand and promote outdoor recreational venues and opportunities throughout East Tennessee.

Pickel Road Ride – Saturday 8 AM
In honor of Harry Pickel, famous for his friendly greetings to those that rode past his store on Thorngrove Pike, the Smoky Mountain Wheelmen Bicycle Club has designed a scenic 40- mile ride to highlight East Knox County. The route skirts the French Broad River as it winds past pastoral farmland and tranquil woods. Register at active.com or by mail.
Urban Adventure Race – Saturday 9 AM
The Urban Adventure Race offers a 6-8 hour challenging course for teams of three who will bike, run, paddle, swim, orienteer and face a few surprises as they maneuver a unique course in and around downtown Knoxville and the Knoxville Urban Wilderness. History Hike – Saturday 9 AM
Former Olympian Missy Kane, along with one of our prominent local historians, will be leading a 3-mile hike on the trails at Fort Dickerson Park. Come discover this hidden gem in the heart of Knoxville. Register at the Covenant all center at 865-541-4500.
Get Out & Play Activities – Saturday 10-4
Knoxville’s waterfront will be the scene for a mix of outdoor activities! this is a great time to try out sport climbing on the climbing wall or see why everyone’s excited about stand-up paddleboards. There will be challenges for kids of all ages — come enjoy the outdoors!
Urban Trail Race – Sunday 9 AM
Start Sunday morning with a 4-mile trail run lead by the Knoxville Track Club. Park at Ijams Nature Center and make your way down to the new trails at the Meads Quarry — a perfect start for the day’s adventures. Walkers are welcome. Register at active.com or by mail.
TBRA Point Series Mountain Bike Time Trial – Sunday 11 AM
Test your mountain bike skills and endurance on the new Urban Wilderness South Loop trails. The 10+ mile singletrack loop designed by the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club starts at Meads Quarry. Register at active.com or by mail.
Legacy Leisure Bike Ride – Sunday 2 PM
Enjoy a part road/part greenway ride to Ijams Nature Center and back. Mast General Store and the Smoky Mountain Wheelmen will lead a group of riders from downtown Market Square to Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness and back. The 12-mile ride will be at a social pace perfect for enjoying the scenery along the way. Register at the Covenant call center at 865-541-4500.
